"We Are One, Respect Our Rights"

Nevada labor unions, community partners, students, and parents are joining together to raise public awareness that the Governor's drastic budget cuts will dismantle education. And the Republican Legislators' solution to the budget crisis is an assault on workers.

Join the "We are One, Respect Our Rights" action to demand a reasonable solution to the state budget crisis.

When: Monday, April 4

Time: 4:30 p.m to 6 p.m.

Nevada Legislature Committees To Meet In Reno

Nevada residents are invited to attend the proposed state higher education budget, and reapportionment and redistricting based on the 2010 U.S. Census committee meetings.

 

When: Thursday, March 31
Where: Lawlor Event Center 1500 N. Virginia Street
Time: Higher Education Budget for Fiscal Years 2012 and 2013 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Reapportionment and Redistricting of Election District Boundaries from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Registration to Speak: Interested Nevada residents are invited to attend these meetings to present their suggestions and concerns about the proposed higher education budget, or about reapportionment and redistricting. Those wishing to speak at the meeting will be required to register and obtain a number.

Proceed to the table directly in front of Section #10 on the upper concourse to register.

Parking and Entrance:
Parking is provided on the top level of the West Stadium Garage. Proceed to ground level and enter through Door #22. Pedestrians should arrive at the south (main) entrance at 15th Street and Virginia St. Proceed up the exterior stairs of Door #36. For elevator access, see a guest services representative at the south entrance.

The draft copy of the Democratic Party of WashoeWashoe Logo County's official Bylaws are available HERE Please read through them, and if you are a Washoe County Central Committee member, be prepared to vote on them April 5th!

WashoeDEMS Board Elections-April 5

If you are on the WashoeDEMS Central Committee you are encouraged to participate in the election process by attending the April 5 meeting to vote. (We will also be voting on updates to our bylaws at the April meeting!)

We are pleased to announce that Robert McGowan, current chair of the Truckee Meadows Democratic Alliance and former Washoe County Assessor, will be our Election Chair. He and his committee will propose election rules and he will have final say on all aspects of the election. Watch your email account and visit the WashoeDEMS website for election information.

These elections determine the future of our party and how effective we are in developing and electing the best Democrats to office.

Save Education Phone Bank  
We will be making calls to other activists to ask them to take specific actions in support of education in Nevada.  This will mainly involve contacting their legislators and making their voice heard in support of education.  Please join us in the struggle to defend our most important democratic institution: Education.  This is from 5pm-8pm ad will feature a brief presentation on Education and the Nevada Budget.
