If We Vote, Kate Wins...

Let's write the REAL story about this race

We, as in all Democrats, and thoughtful independents. Early voting ends at 6 PM tomorrow.  Special Election Day voting is from 7 AM until 7 PM.  If you vote and then make sure somebody else votes for Kate, too, we can send a representative to Washington who will represent US, not corporate special interests and the super-wealthy.

Let's send somebody to Congress who will reduce the federal deficit by closing multi-billion dollar tax loopholes for Exxon and other big oil companies...NOT by leaving the fate of our senior citizens up to the stock market and private insurance companies. Let's rewrite the story about this race and get Democrats and supportive independents to the polls!

How DO Democrats get elected?

One voter at a time.  Seriously.  We need an army of volunteers from now through the close of the polls on the 13th to hit the phones and the pavement for Kate.  Call 323-8683 NOW to sign up for a shift.  Kate needs you now.  Thanks.

Join Democrats tonight to watch as President Obama challenges Republicans to support a REAL Jobs Plan

You're invited to watch President Obama live today at 4 PM at party headquarters at 1465 Terminal Way as President Obama addresses a joint session of Congress to share a plan to create jobs and grow our economy.

His Senior Advisor, David Plouffe, who was with the President as he crafted the strategy, says we can expect to hear the President detail a plan that will rebuild our economy by making sure those that work hard and play by the rules are not left behind, and that the President will issue a challenge to Congress to meet their responsibilities in the same way everyone around the country has stepped up to meet their own.

Will the Republican in the special election meet his responsibilities or be led around by his nose by the Tea Party?  We all know the answer.
Watch the speech at 4...then hit the phones for Kate at 5!  Let's do this thing...

Attention State Central Committee Members

The next meeting of the Nevada State Central Committee is Saturday, Sept. 17th in Tonopah.  It is IMPORTANT that the Washoe County delegation turns out in big numbers.  If you are a member and received the notice from the state party, you must RSVP to Naomi Millisor at nmillisornv@gmail.com or 866-737-3367 if you plan to attend.  If you can't attend, but want to retain your membership, you MUST submit your proxy to the Washoe County Democratic Party at 1465 Terminal Way, Suite 1, Reno, 89502, or scan and email it to ed@washoedems.org, or call 323-8683 if you need to send it by fax.
If you plan to attend and can drive or need a ride, send an email message to ed@washoedems.org.  We'll see you in Tonopah on the 17th!

Who will sit on our city councils and county commission for the next 10 years?

Will Republicans continue to dominate as they have since 2000 when the last ward and district boundaries were drawn?  Or should we as concerned Democrats be asking some questions about the maps that are currently being drafted as a result of the 2010 census?

If you would like more information about how our local governments are redrawing their maps, please email ed@washoedems.org and we'll get your name and contact info on our distribution list.  Click on these links to find more information about the proposed Washoe County Commission and Sparks City Council (scroll down to August 29 Special City Council meeting pdf's) maps.  The Sparks City Council plans to adopt its final map at a meeting on Sept. 26 starting at 2 PM.
